A curious goal secured third division team 1. FC Saarbrücken a very late point at VfB Lübeck. The Saarlanders seem to have a lot of luck these days. However, things are completely different at Arminia Bielefeld.

VfB Lübeck’s crisis in results continued on matchday nine with a draw at 1. FC Saarbrücken. Due to the 1:1 (1:0), the Hanseatic League have been without a win in the 3rd football league since the fourth matchday. As on the previous match day, VfB conceded the equalizer shortly before the end of the game.

Jannik Löhden scored for Lübeck in the 11th minute at the Ludwigsparkstadion. Saarbrücken’s Patrick Sontheimer had to leave the field with a yellow-red card in the 84th minute. While outnumbered, Saarbrücken made it 1-1 through Amine Naifi in the tenth minute of stoppage time. Four days after the 6-2 spectacle in Bielefeld, Saarbrücken avoided the threat of their second defeat of the season thanks to the extraordinary action.

Löhden gave VfB the lead with a header after a corner. Richard Neudecker (30th) tried from a distance for Saarbrücken, but goalkeeper Philipp Klewin was able to deflect the powerful shot to the side. The hosts increased the pressure, but were unable to capitalize on their chances for a long time. With the last action of the game, Naifi artfully turned a corner into the Lübeck goal for a deserved equalizer.

The Saarland team had already been very lucky in the draw for the second round of the DFB Cup. The FCS was drawn against FC Bayern Munich. “This is an absolute blast, the most difficult task,” said coach Rüdiger Ziehl happily last Sunday.

Bielefeld also loses in Verl

The slight upward trend of Bavaria’s Stadrivale TSV 1860, however, was quickly stopped again. Coach Maurizio Jacobacci’s team lost 0-1 (0-1) to the strong home team SSV Ulm. In front of 17,000 spectators in the Donaustadion, the “Lions” fell behind after just nine minutes thanks to Bastian Allgeier. His cross sank – possibly helped by a gust of wind – into the goal behind the surprised Marco Hiller. In an exciting game, the guests lacked penetration.

“It’s a shame that we fall behind so unluckily,” said Jacobacci at MagentaSport. After the break he missed his team’s patience. “This impatience was not good.” The Munich team, who had only arrived on the day of the match, fell back to eleventh place in the table. Newly promoted Ulm improved to second place on Tuesday evening with their fourth home win in a row. 1860 continues on Saturday with a home game against Dynamo Dresden. In addition to the defeat, it was bitter for the “Lions”: defender Niklas Lang had to leave the field injured in the first half.

The situation is even more precarious for second division relegated Bielefeld. Arminia also lost the East Westphalia derby at SC Verl. The 1:3 (0:2) meant their fifth defeat of the season. Goal scorer Fabian Klos was only able to temporarily reduce Verler’s 2-0 half-time lead (62′). Yari Otto completed the home team’s success ten minutes before the end. Bielefeld slips to 18th place and is in danger of being passed into the regional league.
