The Queen of Manipulation: A Twisted Turn of Events in the Latest Episode

Last Sunday’s episode ended with a cliffhanger: Bart and Guy tried to persuade the strong-playing Charlotte Van Brabander to transfer to the traitor camp. He was immediately faced with a dilemma. “I’m afraid. If I say no, I’m afraid of being killed tonight,” Charlotte thought. “If I say yes, I have not played my role as an ally well. I have told many people that I am open to temptation. If I say yes, they will suspect me. Certainly Hendrik Vos.”

Still, she made the switch. “I’m a gamer. He always wants to win his game. Whichever team you belong to. To show that I’m a strategic player, I’m going to say yes. Hendrik will look at me with suspicion. But he is a professor and I remain a poker player with a poker face to use.”

Although she played the game headstrong, Charlotte was in total shock when she discovered that Guy and Bart were traitors. “My master plan has been successful,” Guy said enthusiastically. “Very happy that the queen of manipulation is now among the traitors. I think the cards have now really been completely shuffled.”

The note

Staf Coppens had another assignment: the traitors had to designate four people who would be kidnapped. It was up to the allies to find them. Charlotte suggested that she leave herself, to appear less suspicious. “The longer I am away from the allies, the less people suspect me.”

The professor was also deliberately kidnapped. “I want Hendrik away, so that Martine reads that note,” said Guy. For those who forgot: Hendrik had written down a theory last week and gave the note to Martine Jonckheere. If he were killed, Martine had to read his theory. “I don’t think it will take much effort to get Martine to read that,” he said prophetically. Secretly, the traitors hoped that Celine Van Ouytsel’s name was on the note, so that all suspicion could be placed on her.”

Guy strategically came to sit in the car with Martine. He only had to raise the question about the note before the actress read it out loud: “If I, Jelle or Imke were murdered, Klaasje and Celine are traitors.”

Jonckheere soon realized what blunder she had made, especially after she also told Hendrik that she had read the note. “I really feel like a coward and feel guilty,” she said in tears. “I betrayed his trust. It happened and it is irreversible.”

Another theory

Back at the castle, Hendrik immediately put forward a new theory. “I’m not sure about Celine, but even less about Aagje. If she turns out to be an ally and I have to go home, then Celine is certainly a traitor.” With his theories, the professor did not realize that suspicion was increasingly coming his way. He received six votes at the round table. Ten votes went to… Aagje. “My direct approach seemed confusing to some,” Vanwalleghem concluded afterwards. “The allies exterminated themselves, the traitors didn’t have to make much effort.”

“Hendrik had given the story around Aagje oxygen. It turned out he was wrong. That could kill him now,” said Bart Appeltans. To be continued next Sunday…
