All that’s missing is the signature, it would seem in a rush of the transfer market: this time, we’re talking instead about a plea bargain, the one that Sandro Tonali’s lawyers almost tied together yesterday, in the meeting with the Prosecutor’s Office of the Football Federation directed by Giuseppe Chiné. The Newcastle midfielder, involved in the betting investigation, admitted that he had also bet on what, at the time, were his teams (Milan and Brescia), but always “to win”, thus avoiding the hypothesis of sporting offence. His lawyers have also filed the consultations which attest to the former Rossoneri’s gambling addiction, as well as a chat with Nicolò Fagioli.
An exchange of messages — through Instagram — that could lighten his position. So much so that we expect a 10-month disqualification from the fields, in addition to other (perhaps 7) rehabilitation periods. An agreement that could be sealed in the next few hours, between today and tomorrow. The agreement between the federal prosecutor’s office and the lawyers must in any case be submitted to the Attorney General for Sport at CONI and to the FIGC president, Gabriele Gravina. Then UEFA will extend the disqualification internationally: hence Newcastle’s understandable wait, tomorrow in the Champions League against Borussia Dortmund. Yesterday, meanwhile, the Milan Prosecutor’s Office investigated former paparazzo Fabrizio Corona for aggravated defamation: an expected step, after the complaints from footballers Nicolò Casale (Lazio) and Stephan El Sharawy (Roma) brought into play in the betting case.
