Tuesday’s competition began with a clash between Legia Warszawa’s reserves and the first team of Korona Kielce. And although it would seem that players who usually play in the top league should not have any major problems with a team from the third league, the Kielce team needed extra time to advance because after 90 minutes the score was 2-2. It was mainly 15-year-old goalkeeper Jakub Zieliński who kept the Legionnaires in the game for so long. Ultimately, Korona won 4:2.

In the next match, the team from the third league managed to make a surprise. However, this is not such a big sensation, because last season Carina Gubin and Stal Stalowa Wola played at the same level, although in different groups. Eliminating Steel is still a huge success for Carina. This is the first time a team from the third league has advanced to the 1/8 finals of the Polish Cup this season. Stal Brzeg, the fourth league team, did not cause any surprises, losing to Wart Poznań 0:4.
Piast Gliwice and Bruk-Bet Termalika Nieciecza struggled for 94 minutes. The first league team made a better impression today, but was unable to convert the advantage into a goal. When it seemed that overtime would be needed to decide the match, Michael Ameyaw finally scored the only goal in the match. The Piast player scored a goal literally at the last minute.
Piast’s biggest rival, Górnik Zabrze, also had problems with the first league team. Jan Urban’s players needed extra time to defeat Zagłębie Sosnowiec, who was in penultimate place in the first league. Zabrze could have decided this match earlier. The second Poznań club playing today also had no problems with its rival. Lech, like Warta, faced a team from the lower league. And although Zawisza is historically a much bigger club than Stal Brzeg, it finished on the pitch similarly to the fourth league team. Already in the 24th minute, the Poznań team took the lead thanks to Filip Szymczak’s goal, and just before the break Kristoffer Velde increased the score to 2-0 from a penalty kick.
