The maturity of Real Madrid aggravates the doubts of a Barça in diapers (86-79)

He Real Madrid sent a new torpedo towards the foundations of a Barça under construction with his second victory (86-79) in the two official matches played to date between the two, this one on the third day of the Endesa League and the semi-finals of the Super Cup.

It is true that, contrary to what happened in the last precedent, Barça demonstrated at times that it is no longer fresh cement and that it is hardening little by little. But after a summer of many changes, there is still a path ahead that Real Madrid has already taken, which thanks to its automatisms reduced the consequences of the loss of one of its mainstays, the Cape Verdean center Walter Tavares.

For this, several scenarios were foreseen, but none contemplated lining up the youth squad from the start. Ismaila Diagne. The risky bet worked and the hyperactive player of Senegalese origin, 16 years old and 2.14 tall, responded in all aspects. So much so that in his first 7 minutes and 14 seconds on the court he accumulated 5 of his team’s 12 starting points and 8 rebounds, 5 of them offensive.

Less surprising was the Argentine Facundo Campazzo, which looks like it never left. Or even better. Almost everything that Diagne did not transform in that interval for the locals came from her hands.

Barça stood first on Jabari Parkerauthor of 6 of the first 8 Barça points, and immediately relied on Dario Brizuelawho with 5 in a row made it 14-13 at the end of the opening ceremony.

The second began with alternatives until Barça achieved its first advantage with three and a half minutes played, thanks to a basket from Rokas Jokubaitis. The response on the other board was immediate and forceful, a mate of power with the signature of Vincent Poirier that stimulated the stands.

The squad did not shrink Roger Grimauwhich maintained momentum thanks to two consecutive triples by Brizuela and Alex Abrines. These were moments in which there were plenty of opportunities to punish from outside, with less success on the part of the Madrid team. However, the home side managed to go ahead at half-time with four free throws without a miss. Call me Musa (37-33, min.20).

On the return to the parquet the showiness was lacking, but within that swampy terrain Real Madrid managed much better. Based on push in attack, with Poirier as a stiletto, and seriousness in defense, he increased his numbers until accumulating a partial of 11-3; and with it their greatest favorable distance up to that moment (48-36, min.24).

The remainder of the third quarter took place within these margins, without both parties finding continuity in their successes despite trying to find solutions. In the case of the visitors, Willy Hernangómez was not one of them, booed upon returning to what was “his” court during the presentation and with each free throw, and whose virtues were well nullified by the opponent (59-50, min.30 ).

The decisive ten minutes dawned with Sergio Llull scoring the first 7 points of his team, a moment of individual offensive inspiration that left the attempted reaction of an opponent who for moments asked for passage to nothing, placing himself only six behind.

He wanted Barça, but he couldn’t quite find the crack through which to filter his hopes. And so the clash was consumed, in the routine of the ten-point difference and between exchanges of baskets until a triple by Campazzo and a 2+1 by Musa seemed to break it completely.

Joined the final party Poirierrounding out his numbers in an outstanding afternoon in which he made Tavares not miss with 22 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists.
