FIFA reveals dates and details of the tournament that Spain will organize together with Portugal and Morocco

FIFA released details about the 2030 World Cup that Spain, Portugal and Morocco will be responsible for organizing, the only bid that has yet to deliver a complete dossier at the end of 2024, such as the final being on July 21.
After the announcement last Wednesday, meetings are multiplying among the host countries, working on multiple aspects such as the venues that the World Cup will have, and with the great unknown of who and where will host the final. In addition, the 2030 event will have the peculiarity of holding matches in six different countries, to celebrate the centenary.
Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay will play their first match of the tournament at home, on Saturday or Sunday, June 8 and 9, when the ceremony celebrating the tournament’s centenary will take place, as well as the first matches of the three teams. FIFA explained that these teams will have about 11 or 12 days of margin with their second match, to rest and move to their new headquarters.
On the other hand, the body that governs world football clarified that the opening ceremony will be on Thursday the 13th or Friday the 14th. The final will be on the 21st, although it remains to be seen if, as is strongly rumored, it will be at the Santiago Bernabéu in Madrid, or in a Camp Nou that will also be remodeled. Meanwhile, from Morocco they also demand this great event in their new construction plans.
“All necessary adjustments to the match schedule will be made within the framework of the current international calendar, so the total player loan period will remain unchanged in relation to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Consequently, there would be no need add more days to the current status quo, and would not place any added burden on any participating team, nor on their players or clubs in the national league,” says FIFA.
