Beaten 6–0, 6–2 by a solid Nakashima, Holger Rune is no longer the player we knew at the start of the season.
In fact, the Danish machine has stalled since these coaching affairs and the war of egos which took place between Patrick Mouratoglou and Lars Christensen, his longtime coach.
The bill is therefore heavy and Holger no longer has the joy of playing that we know him to have.
Against Nakashima this Friday, he was a shadow of himself.
Brandon Nakashima after beating Holger Rune to get 1st top 10 win :
“It’s the 1st time I’ve made the 3rd round of a Masters 1000. To do it against a top 5 player like Holger, I’m very happy with the level I played. Hopefully I can keep it going.. maybe it wasn’t his best tennis… pic.twitter.com/5D85toz9TE

All this comes at the wrong time because Rune, still 5th in the world, has his victory in Paris to defend.
This will weigh heavily in the race for the Masters which seems to be moving further and further away.
