The Dallas Mavericks Remain Undefeated, Defeat the Winless Memphis Grizzlies 125-110

The Dallas Mavericks kept their clean slate in Memphis. Head coach Jason Kidd’s team prevailed against the Grizzlies, who were still winless, 125:110. Luka Doncic excelled again while Kyrie Irving was missing.

The guard reported himself shortly before the start of the game with a strain in his left foot, and Josh Green slipped into the starting five in his place. But once again Luka Doncic was outstanding, who broke the 30-point mark in no time in the third game and recorded 35 points (11/22 FG, 6/12 three-pointers), 12 rebounds and 12 assists in 40 minutes.

Doncic scored 19 of these points in the second quarter, which the Mavs won 37:25 and gained their first cushion there. The Slovenian converted two three-pointers in the last minute before half-time, including this deep attempt over the outstretched arms of Desmond Bane.

In general, the Mavs were incredibly hot that evening, 23 of 47 triples flew through the net, so that Memphis could be kept at a distance. In the third period, the hosts, still without a win, got back to -1 before another flurry of threes followed. Derrick Jones Jr., Maxi Kleber and Tim Hardaway Jr. all scored and once again took a double-digit lead. As a result, the victory was no longer in danger; a floater from Green and another three-pointer from Doncic around four minutes before the end finally ensured certainty.

NBA – Dallas Mavericks remain undefeated

Hardaway Jr. added 21 points coming off the bench, and Jones Jr. scored 22 points (7/10), only twice in his NBA career had he scored more. The forward converted four triples, as did wing partner Grant Williams (15). Maxi Kleber played 22 minutes and contributed 7 points (2/4), 5 rebounds and 2 assists to the win, while rookie Dereck Lively II only played 14 minutes due to foul problems.

For the depleted Grizzlies, only three players scored in double figures, namely Desmond Bane (30, 12/17), Jaren Jackson Jr. (30, 10/20, 9 rebounds) and Marcus Smart (23, 9 assists). Memphis remains without a win, but the Grizzlies are missing five rotation players with Ja Morant (suspension), Steven Adams (knee injury), Brandon Clarke (torn Achilles tendon), Santi Aldama (knee injury) and Luke Kennard (concussion).

Dallas, on the other hand, is one of three teams that won the first three games. Otherwise, only the Denver Nuggets and the Boston Celtics can claim this.
