Stefanos Tsitsipas emphasized before the start of the ATP Tour 250 tournament in Antwerp that tennis is still his first priority.

Yes! Stefanos Tsitsipas also enjoys tennis every now and then…
A tournament win in Los Cabos. This is Stefanos Tsitsipas’ title record for the 2023 season, which actually started so well with the final at the Australian Open. Here and there the class of the exceptional Greek player has flashed again – but the last two months in particular have not been characterized by success.
This week Tsitsipas is now trying out Antwerp, especially in first place. The draw gave him a possible revenge against Dominic Stricker – Tsitsipas was eliminated in five sets against the Swiss in the second round of the US Open a few weeks ago. Not much happened after that. Not even in the Davis Cup, where Stefanos Tsitsipas wanted to shoulder the entire burden against Slovakia – and then only won one point. This means that Greece will not be represented in the top level of the most important team competition next year either.
Tsitsipas 2023 with 43 match wins
The question is: Has Stefanos Tsitsipas lost his joy in tennis? Are other things more important to him? The romance with Paula Badosa seems to be on hold at the moment. And the two-time Monte Carlo champion left no doubt in Antwerp about where his priorities lie.
“People say that I’m no longer focused on tennis,” explained Tsitsipas, who has already won 43 matches in the current season. “But I’m training more than ever before in my career. I don’t want to prove anything to anyone but myself. I want to prove to myself that I can get back to my best level. I believe.”
A tournament win in Antwerp would certainly help. In the doubles, the start alongside brother Petros was already successful: Tsitsipas Inc. won against David Vega Hernandez and Miguel Angel Reyes with 7:6 (7) and 7:6 (2).
