Tennis professional Jenson Brooksby gets a doping ban: punishment despite an excuse

Sport writes the craziest stories. Not least doping fighters can sing a song about this, because some of the fairy tales that they are told by suspects or those caught are as crazy as they are unforgettable. Now the tennis professional Jenson Brooksby, who was once 33rd in the world rankings, has made people sit up and take notice with a new great story about why he missed a doping test.

It goes like this: He was waiting for the inspector at the hotel, but unfortunately he had to book his room in the name of his physiotherapist. Brooksby had told the hotel staff that he was there, but they apparently forgot and told the inspector that the player hadn’t checked in yet.

The inspector then didn’t come up with the idea of calling the hotel room, but instead tried Brooksby’s mobile number, and only shortly before the end of the scheduled one-hour period. Brooksby says he couldn’t have predicted this and put his cell phone on silent.
