Third game, third defeat: Syntainics MBC has finally ruined the start of the new Bundesliga season. At the runner-up Telekom Baskets Bonn, Predrag Krunic’s team was particularly disappointing on the offensive.
The MBC Syntainics Weißenfels basketball players also lost their third Bundesliga game of the season. The Central Germans suffered a 73:100 (34:45) defeat against the Telekom Baskets Bonn team, which had also been winless up to that point, and are now in the relegation zone after the false start.
Till Pape (21 points), Christian Sengfelder (16), Glynn Watson Jr., Harald Frey (12 each) and Brian Fobbs (11) played the largest part in Bonn’s well-deserved success. For the MBC, only John Bryant (15), Stefan Bircevic (11) and Charles Callison (10) scored double figures.
The Weißenfelsers were only able to keep things open until the end of the second quarter. Then the Bonn team pulled away with a 13-0 run from 38:34 (18th) to 51:34 (21st) and had broken the guests’ resistance at the latest at 60:40 (25th). The Weißenfelsers revealed major weaknesses in the offensive. The Central Germans lost 13 balls and only converted six of their 26 attempts from beyond the three-point line.
Regardless of his personal record, MBC captain Bryant was still completely served after the final siren. “We let the people of Bonn do whatever they wanted with us. After the break we completely fell apart. Our problem was that we didn’t fight against the defeat enough and defended very poorly,” explained the German-American in frustration.
