Success and Challenges at the III Spanish Cup “A” of Judo in Torrelavega

This weekend the III Spanish Cup “A” of judo was held in the Cantabrian town of Torrelavega, in the cadet and children’s categories. The “CAJA RURAL-JUDO ZAMORA” team traveled there. Representing the province, there were members of the Gokyo Club and the Morales Judo club.

We started on Friday with the weigh-in and accreditations where we didn’t have any problems.

On Saturday, the cadet competition began, with Rubén De Castro in the -55kg category and Diego Bruña in the -81kg category, in the cadet category, in which both of them stayed on this occasion. without the option of entering the final battles.

On the part of the Judo Club Judo Morales in the cadet category, Juan Meana in -55kg and Noa Vicente in -57kg, both first-year cadets, had no luck in the draw and were left out of the fight for the medals, while their partner Elena Bahamonde in -48kg began her championship on the path to victory, reaching the quarterfinal match and when we all thought she would also pass because Elena had the advantage on the scoreboard, an unforeseen action and with 2 seconds left the rival managed to hit the return to the scoreboard, after that setback she knew how to overcome and continued with the triumphs in the repechage until reaching the bronze contest that in a very close fight Elena could not overcome, having to settle for a 4th place, to say that with that place It receives the first points for the National ranking and sneaks into the top ten of said ranking.

On Sunday, the only child representative María Bahamonde carried out a very serious competition, finishing 3rd in her league, but unfortunately that was not enough to move on to the fight for the medals since only the first two qualified.

From the Zamorana Judo Delegation we want to congratulate these athletes for being fighting with the best on the National scene.
