Success and Achievements at the JC Wermelskirchen Annual Examination Course

There was a lot going on again at the JC Wermelskirchen annual examination course. However, before the course started with the call to “Set up!”, there was pure chaos on the judo mat. Balls flew, children fought, and teenagers squealed. However, when the word “Set up!” rang through the hall, the 35 participants quickly scurried across the judo mat, cleared away materials, pitched in together and complied with the unmistakable request. It almost seems like magic: the chaos from before was forgotten and you could have heard a pin drop in the hall.

Vera Hänel, Peer von Grünberg and Katrin Seide, who were trainers on all four days, had their hands full, after all, things were still going on technically. But overall we were lucky with this year’s group. Sven Dicke, Janine and Dirk Kopperberg supported on a few days, Hannah Glauner, Emma Becker, Mayla Gulich, Elias Behrend and Ida von Grünberg completed the team as sports assistants. The 35 participants between the ages of eight and 15 practiced in a disciplined manner and had a clear goal in mind: the belt test on the last day of the course. Only two of them, together with the coaching team, decided to postpone it for a few more weeks. After intensive preparation, everyone else took the test for the next belt. The nervousness grew day by day, but in the end everyone performed well and demonstrated their skills.

Many spectators created an impressive backdrop. The young athletes Emma Becker and Hannah Glauner attracted attention. Both are in the state squad and are on the way to being promoted at the national level. Taking the brown belt exam in their home dojo was something very special for the duo, despite the many successes they had already celebrated. And for the spectators who are still at the beginning of the belt test ladder with their kids, it is an absolute highlight. Ida von Grünberg, Elias Behrendt and Enrique Correia were also able to impress in the test for the highest student level in judo.

Marlon Wegwert and Leopold Harms achieved the blue belt, who were also honored by the judo club’s trainers for their tireless commitment and example of judo values. Ferdinand Harms, Ewan Ratzke and Phil Niewöhner achieved the green belt, while Olivia Clemm, Valentina Picard, Jannis Frieg and Ron Trienenjost received the orange-green belt. Jannis Frieg probably showed the most remarkable progress not only in technology, but also in personality. He received a small special award from head coach Katrin Seide.

The orange belt team demonstrated strong solidarity. Katharina Jalunin, Pia Wächtler, Lene Frieling and Henry Ratzke trained diligently and were all rewarded with a good test. Coach Vera Schulz had her hands full with the large group of candidates for the yellow-orange belt. Thomas Butlin, Elena Behrendt, Diego Correia, Robert Stumpf, Svenja Schulz, Mika Wendler, Mats Straßburger, Jakob Friske, Laila Clemm, Aaron Hartmann, Nele Matthies, Marc Miller, Jakob Friske and Emilia Taganovic showed that they had paid close attention and also rewarded their trainer. Mats and Jakob were awarded this year’s Exam Oscars by Sven Dicke. Both showed a great test. The duo also supported weaker athletes throughout the course. The first single-colored belt (yellow) was achieved by Samuel Faßbender, Lara Pinto Winter, Anthony Butlin, Dascha Wendler, Margaretha Skowronek, Karlours Self Allah, Felix Graf, Juliana Kadenbach, Lilian Trahöner and Nate Lavalle. Even before the holidays, Juliana Pinto Winter, Valerie Portier and Theo Schönfelder cleared the hurdle for the white-yellow belt.

After the test, Gina Alcamo and Sven Weil took command in the sports square. The likeable duo grew up in the JCW themselves, but had to stop coaching a few years ago due to their studies. But in order to save the film night, the two returned to Wermelskirchen and gave all participants a special end to an educational week. What many people probably don’t know: After spending the night on the judo mat with little sleep, Gina Alcamo and Sven Weil immediately started a regular work day the next morning after cleaning up.
