Steven Berghuis Expresses Disappointment in Ajax’s Defensive Performance Against AEK Athens

AEK Athens had no fewer than thirteen shots in the first half against Ajax. Steven Berghuis is disappointed with how the Amsterdam team gives away opportunities and simply with how they defend.

“That’s just way too much,” says the veteran in front of the camera Ajax TV. “We just have to be critical of it long run you just don’t win matches.” These problems were partly caused by poor build-up. “At a certain point it became difficult, because the field became very long and it went up and down.

“It looked like a tennis match. Of course, you don’t want that. You prefer to be organized. There is a lot of room for improvement. We cannot be satisfied with the 1-1 and our game.” He is short about the laser pens. “Yes, that was bizarre. Steven (Bergwijn, ed.) remained cool during the penalty, I must say. Hopefully UEFA can also do something about this.”
