It’s called “Social Sport”. It is the project of the Polisportiva Il Sogno Asd, an association that operates in the Soccorso district and which was, the only Tuscan reality, among the winners of the public notice “Sport and Integration” promoted by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies, in collaboration with Sport e Salute Spa. “The intervention prepared by the Ministry is designed to finance the creation of sports-educational facilities in urban areas and in neighborhoods with a high concentration of foreign citizens – explains Samanta Giardino, coordinator of the Social Sport project for the Polisportiva Il ASD Dream -. The initiative is aimed at offering an alternative and positive space with respect to difficult territorial and family contexts, for the promotion of access to free sports practice for children and adults with a migratory background”. In short, the objective is to enhance sport as a tool for aggregation, socialization and inclusion between the different cultures present in the area through participation in sporting and socio-educational activities.
In addition to the Polisportiva Il Sogno, leader of the project, the Municipality of Prato, the Prato Territorial Committee of the Uisp, the Associazione Cieli Aperti Aps, Prato Sport Academy Asd, Am Etruria Asd and the parish of S. Maria are involved as partners. of the Rescue. The project’s activities, free of charge and specifically created by instructors and operators who are experts in the sporting, educational and intercultural fields, are intended, from last September until January, for children and young people aged 5 to 17, women and adults from the community, with particular attention to foreign people or people with a migratory background. The initiatives take place mainly in the spaces managed by the Polisportiva Il Sogno, i.e. the gym in via Roma 188, and in those of the Cieli Aperti Aps association, in via Marengo 51. The little ones can choose between volleyball, basketball, judo, wushu kung fu. Volleyball courses (since last June) and gymnastics courses are reserved for adults.
