Smoke-free zone in the stadium? Are you kidding me? Are you serious when you say that!
Footballer Colin Kazim-Richards (37/unemployed, previously including Feyenoord and Celtic Glasgow) chats in an interview on the YouTube account “FilthyFellas” (179,000 subscribers) about, among other things, his time as a player at Turkish club Karagümrük (2022 to 2023) .
At that time, Italy legend Andrea Pirlo (44/apparently at least an occasional smoker himself) was the club’s coach, and with the club he finished seventh in the table at the end of the season.
The Italian gave his players a lot of freedom, as Kazim-Richards has now revealed!

The London native in an interview: “Smoking? Yup. We have a lot of Italians who smoke. In Turkey it depends on the coaches. But last year at Pirlo it was allowed to smoke. And they smoke endlessly – before the game.”
“What? The players?” asks one of the interviewees. “Yes,” Kazim-Richards replies.
Asked again: “Cigarettes?” Answer: “Yes.”
Kazim Richards: “Yeah, right, right. They sit there and smoke half the time while he talks. They drown in their smoke. Another culture. It’s a completely different culture. Do you understand? So it’s not like I’m saying it to shock. What I’m saying is you can do it legally.”
After just one year at Karagümrük, Kazim-Richards left the club again. Pirlo did the same. The Italian is now employed by second division club Sampdoria Genoa, where he is ranked 19th (without a win in eight league games).
Maybe Pirlo ends up giving his players too much freedom…
