Skechers Reports Nearly 70% Increase in Net Profit, Driven by International Success and Expansion into Basketball

Skechers maintains its sweet moment. The American firm recorded a third quarter of growth, with an improvement in its net profit of almost 70%, after exceeding 145 million dollars.

Better performance in the international market than in the American market

Net sales failed to increase at the same rate, but they did experience an increase of 7.8%, reaching a new record with 2,025 million. Skechers achieved better performance in international markets than in the domestic one, with progress of 8.6 and 6.5% respectively.

Direct sales increased by 21.5%, in contrast to a slight decline in wholesale sales of 1.4%, which in the European area (including Africa and the Middle East) was 8.3%. These direct sales exceeded 850 million euros, which represents practically 42% of its sales.

10% more single-brand stores in nine months

Skechers single-brand stores in their different formats (including those corresponding to distributors, franchises and licensees) are close to 5,000 (4,992), which is 10% more than at the end of 2022, when they had a total of 4,537 stores. That record is produced despite the closure, in these first three quarters of the year, of up to 418 points of sale.

Introduction to basketball

Skechers faces the immediate future with optimism, hoping to complete the year with sales of around $8 billion. Likewise, the American firm has just entered another category, that of basketball, hoping to get the same reception that he is getting with football along with its star ambassador, the Englishman Harry Kane.

The firm has launched a technical basketball line that offers high performance to basketball enthusiasts of any level. The launch occurred coinciding with the start of a new NBA season and presenting two different shoe profiles: SKX Resagrip and SKX Float, which fuse innovative technologies with the brand’s characteristic comfort.

Two high-profile ambassadors

Skechers has recruited New York Knicks power forward Julius Randle and Los Angeles Clippers guard Terance Mann to compete professionally with Skechers basketball shoes. After weeks of practice and preseason games with the shoe, Randle and Mann signed as ambassadors for Skechers Basketball and agreed to represent the high-performance footwear brand in different campaigns after contrasting the performance of the new shoes.
