Sinner like Panatta: beats Alcaraz and becomes number 4 in the world

After 47 years, Italy returns to have a tennis player among the top 4 in the world. It is Jannik Sinner, who by beating Carlos Alcaraz in the semi-final of the ATP 500 tournament in Beijing mathematically conquers the place occupied for the last time by Adriano Panatta in 1976, the year in which the Roman tennis player achieved the double of the Internazionali di Roma and Roland Garros.
The match in Beijing ended in favor of the South Tyrolean with a score of 7-6 (4) 6-1. Very balanced match in the first set with the twenty-year-old from Murcia starting better but then being joined by Sinner who, as the games went by, took more and more control of the match thanks to powerful forehands from the baseline, an incisive serve and runs to the net winners.
Having closed the first set with a tie-break, the second set was a formality for the 22-year-old from San Candido, who finished easily in front of a clearly nervous and frustrated Alcaraz.
That the Spaniard particularly suffers from Sinner’s speed and power is demonstrated by the balance of the comparisons between the two with Sinner ahead 4 to 3.
Now the Italian will have to face his “bete noire” in the final, Danil Medvedev who boasts a 6-0 in his favor in direct matches.
