Rocío (who is the sister of Fernando Carralero, former San Fernando Club Deportivo player, and the veteran triathlete Rafa Carralero) has the invaluable help of Silvia Gorrado, who was a SD Candray player and now plays for Gades, Noelia Navarrete and Susa Gómez.

The charming pavilion of the Isla de León institute has been the scene of the first training session, as will happen every Tuesday from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and where the team members thoroughly enjoyed the exercises programmed by Rocío Carralero and which is the first step to start playing basketball.

The participants in this opening day were Wealth Juan, Esperanza, Mario, Alazne, Nakeisha and Manuel, all of them from the UPACE San Fernando center, Fran (Isla de León institute) and Ángel, from Santa Teresa de Cádiz, although two others will join next week.

According to the president of the San Fernando Basketball Club, María Gómez Paredes“it is a project that the previous board of directors, chaired by Aurora Meléndez, had in its portfolio and that we have finally been able to launch thanks to the concern of our vice president Javi Navarrete. And it is a satisfaction to see the great response it has had.”

For its part, Rocío Carralero tells DEPORTEDELAISLA.COM, who was in that first training at the Isla de León institute, that “Javi Navarrete contacted me to find out if at UPACE San Fernando, where I work as a teacher at the educational center, there were some young people who could train part of this team, which is already a happy reality.

The coach adds that “it is a great initiative of the San Fernando Basketball Club so that kids with diverse abilities can carry out a sports and leisure activity like any boy or girl their age. It is important that they have fun while learning to play to basketball and the values of sport, but the main thing is that they are happy.

Rocío regrets that “in San Fernando there is not much inclusive sport and this means that people do not have leisure alternatives. Therefore, it is worth highlighting this project that the San Fernando Basketball Club has launched.”
