Rugby Weekend in Tierra del Fuego: Classic Clashes and Pan American Championships

This weekend there will be Rugby activities in Tierra del Fuego with a new date that includes classics in Ushuaia and Río Grande. On the other hand, five Fuegian athletes will begin to participate in the Pan American Championships being held in Santiago, Chile.

The Rugby date with classic clashes in Ushuaia and Río Grande will be the highlight of the weekend at the local level. Meanwhile, 5 athletes from Tierra del Fuego will participate in the Pan American Championship that starts today in Santiago, Chile.

The fifth date of Fuegian rugby is coming. This Saturday will be a classic date. The tricolor of Pipo URC (Ushuaia Rugby Club) will visit Las Águilas from 4 p.m.; while in the north of the island, Río Grande Rugby & Hockey Club will receive a visit from the rojiblanco from Universitario from 4 p.m.

For the Development Tournament, the local Águilas Beta will host Tolhuin Rugby from 2:00 p.m. as a preliminary to the great classic.

The Pan American starts in Chile

Today, the sporting activity of the entire continent will be launched in the capital city of the trans-Andean country, with conventional and Paralympic athletes.

Representing our province will be 5 athletes, who will make up the delegation of 534 Argentine athletes, who will defend the light blue and white colors, and who will go in search of qualification for the maximum event, the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

On this occasion the games will have the presence of 41 countries and nearly 7,000 athletes.

Track Hockey Championship

On the other hand, the provincial team was looking to advance last night in San Juan, in the National Team Tournament, which is held in the legendary Aldo Cantoni stadium.

With a highly positive Wednesday for the Fuegian national team, where there were four victories and one draw, on the men’s side they achieved a 13-2 victory in the confrontation with Santa Cruz Norte “B”, and in the other match they tied in A vibrant match against Bariloche, the girls defeated San Juan by 14 to 1 and Santa Cruz Norte by 10 to 0. On the other hand, the young women of the Sub 19 defeated the local teams by 5 to 2.

Thursday started again with a favorable wind, the under 19 girls defeated Santa Cruz Norte 6 to 1 and the seniors beat the Austral Association 6 to 1.

At the close of this edition, the first-class men and women were presenting themselves, seeking classification at the defining level.
