River Plate Celebrates Victory in Superclásico at La Bombonera after Five Years

River Plate had the pleasure of winning again at La Bombonera after five years: they won 2-0 in the Superclásico against Boca Juniors, thanks to goals from Salomón Rondón and Enzo Díaz. Furthermore, the Millionaire had not won as a visitor since June 12 (4-1 against Banfield). That whole combo generated a spicy celebration on the part of the team on the very grass of the stadium.

“He who doesn’t jump died in Madrid, take it, give it to me…” was one of the first songs that were heard by players and friends after the protocol greetings and hugs. The evocation is to the final of the 2018 Copa Libertadores in which La Banda won 3-1 against its classic opponent. While the representatives of the visit celebrated, in the stands they did not reduce the intensity of their breath thinking about Thursday’s duel against Palmeiras in São Paulo, for the semifinal of the Copa Libertadores.

Then, the songbook continued with “look, look, look, take a photo…”. But the one who took the photo is the team. The typical image that is usually conceived in the locker room in this type of case was portrayed on the same stage. Not once, but twice. “He who does not jump, abandoned, borombombom, borombombom, he who does not jump, abandoned”, was the hit that emerged immediately. There, the allusion was to the duel for Copa Libertadores 2015, that of the pepper spray incidents, also in La Boca, which did not end.

There was time for one more song. After the second snapshot, the group, with Enzo Pérez (who led to the first conquest with his shot that deflected off Salomón Rondón) as one of its leaders, sang “a minute of silence, for Boca who is dead.” And he went singing through the tunnel. Only then was a projectile seen coming from the stands: in general, the Xeneize fan tolerated the defeat with dignity.

In the locker room, now far from the eyes of rival fans, but given the spread offered by social networks, the songs continued. And a video went viral in which the champion players of the Professional League sang “I see, what do you see, one thing, what is it, that history repeats itself again, we return to c….”. This time, as in the Monumental (Demichelis’ second consecutive victory as coach in the Superclásico), the joy was on the side of the Band, which climbed to one point behind Independiente in Zone A of the League Cup. Boca, for its part, is five behind Racing, the leader with 12 in Group B.
