A tradition for several years, the Retraite Sportive en Pays Marollais (RSPM) association organized its participatory walk for the Pink October campaign. Every end of October, the walk collects donations to support Cancer Research efforts. A disease that affects many retirees. Despite questionable weather, there were 43 participants to explore the Marolles trails, accompanied by Francis Belluau, the mayor of Marolles-les-Braults.

A successful collection

Michel Tison, president of the RSPM, is satisfied with this approach which will allow him to send a check for 230 euros to the Cancer Research League. This event is also an opportunity for him to remind the members present that the eleven sporting activities had started well and that the numbers had returned to the same level as last year, at the end of October 2022. Despite the departures linked to deaths, illness or the moves of some.

An association that moves and attracts

The new activities, Gentle Gym, Archery, Activ’mémoire, Cycle tourism, Disc Golf and the six other existing sporting activities attract new members, convinced that “moving” is a guarantee of better health, that sport makes you go backwards disease.

Sports, Seniors, Health, is the concept of La Retraite Sportive. The next walk, organized by the Retraite Sportive du Pays Marollais association, will take place on Wednesday November 8, 2023 at 2 p.m. Hikers will meet in Sillé-le-Philippe, at the Jean-de-La-Fontaine room for 1:30 p.m., two routes will be offered: a 5 or 10 km hike.
