Reims Métropole Badminton: A New Season of Renewal and Development

New season and new adventure for Reims Métropole Badminton. Defeated for its return to N3 against Besançon at the beginning of September, the Reims club will try to better face Etupes this Saturday at the Halle Universitaire (4 p.m.). A renewal which is accompanied by a redesigned identity to perpetuate the club at the national level.

As it reforms its N3 team, Reims Métropole Badminton wants to change its model. The club does not intend to limit itself to the stated objective of maintaining and wants to take advantage of this season to build. “We do not want to start again as before, relying only on international players,” says president Jean-Michel Edard. “Our idea is to stay local, to try to attract the best players in the region.” A development project based on a “new generation” RMB which at the same time intends to become a club more focused on training.

“See the club as a pyramid”

In addition to a new regional anchor, the RMB aims to reinvent its sports policy in terms of training. “We would like to focus a little more on it. See the club like a pyramid. With a first team in N3 and a base that is expanding to allow our young people to go higher by crossing the levels in the best way possible,” summarizes Jean-Michel Edard. Wishing to make the R1 and R2 teams “breeding grounds” intended to bring together young people who are “growing in strength”, the RMB will count on its pillars to ensure succession. Nicolas Séjournant will assume the dual role of coach-player in N3. 2019 world champion in the veteran category, Audrey Petit and Hélène Dijoux will bring all their experience to this RMB version 2023-2024. Next step from Saturday at 4 p.m. at the University Hall against the Etupes badists to give the ideas a little more chance of coming to fruition.
