Young softball players win the state cup with Bavaria, youth fight for third place in the German championship, live pitchers prevail in the state league competition.
The DBV State Cup Youth Softball 2023 was a home game in two respects for six young Regensburg girls. Michaela Knorova, Ela Makas, Amelie and Emma Pfauntsch, Marina Stingl and Raphaela Wagner Perez were part of Bavaria’s selection at the tournament held in Regensburg. The team presented itself convincingly.

Bayern won all three games in the preliminary round. In the final, the team met, somewhat surprisingly, the representatives from Berlin-Brandenburg, who had prevailed against the favored teams from North Rhine-Westphalia and Baden-Württemberg. The underdogs also held up very well in the final for quite a long time. It was only in the last innings that the final became clear. Bayern won 12:3.
Youth comes third at the German championship
In Heidenheim, the team coached by coaches Markus Gienger and Marius Wolf as well as Martin Durchholz fought for the German Youth Baseball Championship 2023. The Guggenberg Legionnaires qualified for the semi-finals with confident victories. There they met the robber barons from Schriesheim, who had been defeated by the young legionnaires in the second round.
In the semifinals, however, the Regensburg team had difficulties on the mound and there were hardly any healthy pitchers available. As a result, that meant a 2:7 defeat. In the last game, the team gathered all its strength once again, beat Bad Homburg 6:5 and took third place.
State league cup for live pitchers
In the state league cup for U12 live pitchers, the Guggenberg Legionnaires 2 won the cup. The Regensburg team won 17:2 against Garching Atomics and 6:2 against Gauting Indians 3.
