“Turntables meet tennis” is how Red Bull itself describes this unique event, which is now in its third edition in Vienna (and is already sold out).
Six of the world’s best tennis players want to win a tie-break tournament while the bass booms from the turntables. So the court at Heumarkt will shake – just a few days before the start of the Erste Bank Open. A unique atmosphere!
Thiem and Zverev at the start!
The line-up for today: Andrey Rublev (ATP No. 5), Alexander Zverev (ATP No. 9), Frances Tiafoe (ATP No. 14), Fabian Marozsan (ATP No. 65), Dominic Thiem ( ATP No. 86) and Jurij Rodionov (ATP No. 103)!
Red Bull Bassline is an explosive best-of-three format – but only tiebreaks are played. Six matches are scheduled, so things happen quickly – each match only lasts 10, 15 or 20 minutes. Incidentally, the idea behind the tournament is Stefanos Tsitsipas, who will of course also be playing at the Erste Bank Open next week.
“Red Bull Bassline is a new, exciting concept for young fans,” said the Greek. “We bring you music, we bring you energy and fans are excited to experience tennis in a best-of-three tiebreak format!”
