MotoGP racing legend who is now one of the MotoGP Race Directions, Loris Capirossi, sees the potential of young racers from Indonesia. Moreover, next year one of the Indonesian riders, Mario Aji, will move up to Moto2 from Moto3 this year.

“Yes, it’s nice to see him because he’s big enough (physically) to (ride a motorbike) Moto2,” said Loris when met by detikOto on the sidelines of the 2023 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia at the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit.

“Because sometimes when some riders move up from Moto3 to Moto2 they can make a big step. Maybe it would be better for him to go up to Moto2. That is good potential,” he said.

Apart from Mario Aji, from the Asia Talent Cup junior race, Indonesia also has Veda Ega Pratama which is quite brilliant. According to Loris, many talented young racers will emerge from this junior championship.

Loris also said that Indonesian racers have the potential to become champions in MotoGP. As long as the rider has a good mentality.

“Why not? It’s no different from us. It really depends on mentality. You have to believe in yourself. You have to believe in what you are doing, you have to stay focused and practice a lot,” said Loris.

“When I started racing, my focus was just racing, I didn’t care about anything, that was it. I trained for it, I worked for it, my whole life was that. And you know, also in the last few years in MotoGP, I “I only rest 20 days a year. This means that out of 365 a day, I work 345 days, rest 20 days. And the rest is training for next year,” said Loris.
