Qatari sheikh withdraws as candidate for Manchester United purchase due to price disagreement

After months of unsuccessful negotiations, Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani is no longer a candidate for the purchase of Manchester United. According to a source close to the matter, the Qatari sheikh confirmed to the Glazers, the family which owns 69% of the club, that he is “withdrawing from the process”.

The same source indicates that he is “the only bidder” who wants to buy all of the club’s shares. And the main disagreement concerns the price. The Glazers are asking for 10 billion dollars according to the English press, while the Qatari judges it to be around “3.2 billion dollars and made an offer twice as high as this estimate”. Offer which did not convince the current owners.
