“PSDS Deli Serdang Suffers 1-2 Defeat to Persiraja Banda Aceh in Indonesian League 2 Match”

Deli Serdang – PSDS Deli Serdang lost 1-2 to visiting team Persiraja Banda Aceh, in the continuation match of the Indonesian League 2 season 2023/2024, at the Baharoeddin Siregar Stadium, Lubukpakam District, Deli Serdang Regency, Saturday afternoon, 14 October 2023.

For the home team’s defeat, PSDS Head Coach, Susanto apologized to PSDS management and stakeholders. He is also responsible for the decline of the proud team of Deli Serdang residents.

“Personally, the PSDS Deli Serdang coach would like to say a thousand apologies to PSDS stakeholders. This is football, there are wins, there are losses and there are draws,” said Susanto in a press conference, after the match at the Baharoeddin Siregar Stadium, Deli Serdang Regency.

The bitter pill of defeat in front of the public itself, Susanto announced his resignation from the seat of coach of the yellow tractor, the nickname for PSDS. According to him, this is his responsibility as a coach.

“This is beyond expectations, it failed and I am ready to take responsibility for this result, and I announced lastly, I also resigned from the coaching staff. Because of my responsibilities as a coach, the coach failed to make this team better,” explained Susanto.

Susanto emphasized that his decision to resign as PSDS coach was not due to pressure from any party. However, on the contrary, as a form of responsibility for his failure to lead PSDS to perform better every match.

“I think the responsibility as a coach should be to bring this team better in the future. Responsibility for this result (defeat against Persiraja),” said Susanto.

Susanto revealed that the defeat in this match was not the fault of his team’s children. Because, I have played optimally. However, the outcome of the match is the coach’s responsibility.

“The team has played optimally, whatever (the result) is my responsibility as coach,” said Susanto.

In that match, kick off is at 15.30 WIB. PSDS played aggressively and pressed to threaten the defense line of the Persija Banda Aceh team. The goal was scored in the 45+4 minute, after the Persiraja goalkeeper’s violation of PSDS player Ikhsanul resulted in a penalty.

Bima Lesmana’s execution gave PSDS a 1-0 lead. At halftime the home team was one goal ahead of the opposing team.

Second half, Persiraja rose. Taking advantage of the chaos in front of the PSDS goal, Lantak Laju equalized the score with Ramadhan’s kick using a rebound from the goalkeeper in the 68th minute. The score changed 1-1 from the match.

It didn’t stop there, Persiraja continued to put pressure on PSDS. As a result, in the 79th minute, Al Muzzani’s shot from a corner turned and could not be parried perfectly by PSDS goalkeeper Rafli Mahreza. The score became 1-2 until the referee’s long whistle signaled the end of the second half.

This 1-2 defeat was the end of PSDS’ journey in the first round of the Indonesian League 2, with a collection of 4 points from 6 matches.
