ProSieben to Broadcast NBA Games on Free TV, Featuring Austrian Superstar Jakob Pöltl

Sunday will be the new basketball day! Because the strongest basketball league in the world (NBA) with Austrian superstar Jakob Pöltl will be broadcast on free TV in the coming season.

Germany’s triumph at the Basketball World Cup has left its mark – also on the TV market. As ProSieben officially announced on Tuesday, the German private broadcaster will broadcast over 50 games on free TV in the NBA season starting on October 24th. There will also be further encounters in the play-offs and finals.

No stream necessary for Pöltl fans

The sports division “ran” will primarily broadcast the games involving the German superstars and world champions Dennis Schröder and Daniel Theis (Indiana Pacers) on a regular basis. Lucky for the local basketball fans. The German MVP Schröder will play with the 2.16 meter giant Jakob Pöltl for the Toronto Raptors next season.

The “hardcore basketball fans” can still access DAZN. The streaming portal has extended the collaboration until 2024. Part of the rights package includes more than 200 games from the new NBA season.

NBA competing with NFL

The NBA broadcast is therefore in direct competition with the NFL, which, as is well known, can be seen on RTL this year and no longer on ProSieben. Since the viewing figures there have already been underwhelming, the competition is unlikely to be happy to hear that sports fans now have another free TV offer to choose from every Sunday evening.

It starts on the night of October 24th to 25th: Then champion Denver Nuggets with Nikola Jokic welcome Lakers legend LeBron James at the start of the 2023/24 season. This game, which starts at 1:30 a.m. German time, will be broadcast on ProSieben and in the live stream.
