Philippe Clement Leads Rangers to Victory in Debut as Coach

Philippe Clement has not missed his debut as Rangers coach. Hibernian were defeated with 2 goals before and 2 goals after half-time. Nicolas Raskin’s 2-0 was the highlight of the afternoon.

From sunny Monaco to drizzly Scotland: Philippe Clement’s coaching career took a remarkable turn last week. Ibrox was packed to see the debut of their new trainer.

Clement gave starting places to both Nicolas Raskin and Cyriel Dessers. They did not betray trust.

After Senegalese Sima had opened the ball against Hibernian, Raskin put his right hand against the ball from about 25 meters just before half-time. Not hard, but right in the corner.

Just before he was to be substituted, Dessers also put his name on the score sheet. A cool move in the 16. 4-0 was also the final score.

Rangers are now within 4 points of leader Celtic, although their arch rivals will play against Hearts tomorrow.

Dessers: “Blowing a new wind in the dressing room”

Cyriel Dessers was a very satisfied man after Philippe Clement’s debut. The striker noticed his compatriot’s fresh approach in the first week of training.

“The coach wants us to play with a lot of energy and high pressure. He wants to see aggressive football, an attacking mindset,” he shares.

“We are on the right track, but there is still a lot of work to be done.”

Yet the start is hopeful: “With the new wind blowing through the dressing room, we can go far. If it clicks, we will become a team that is very difficult to stop.”
