Blessin is a three-time Paralympian who represented Canada at the Tokyo 2020, Rio 2016 and London 2012 Games. His best performance came in 2016 in Rio, where he finished sixth in the 10m air rifle prone position in category SH2. At the Tokyo Games, he placed 28th after qualifying for the 10m air rifle standing and 50m rifle prone events. He recently competed at the 2023 World Championships in Lima, Peru.

Both shooters will be making their Parapan American Games debut, and it will also be a first for Canada in the sport at the Games. Paratir was added to the Parapan American program four years ago.

Blessin and Tremblay will compete in the SH2 category, which includes athletes with physical deficiencies in the upper limbs and for whom the use of a shooting support to support the weapon is necessary. All SH2 category events are mixed competitions. In Santiago, they will take part in the mixed events of 10m air rifle standing, 10m air rifle prone and 50m rifle prone in the SH2 category.

The parair competition will take place from November 18 to 21 in Santiago. The 10m air rifle, standing position is a Paralympic qualifying event at the end of which the winner will obtain a quota place for their country at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
