Adrián Otaegui could not complete his qualifying progress on the last day of the Spanish Open, at the Villa de Madrid Country Club with the victory of Matthieu Pavon. The San Sebastian native finished with a -10 in the calculation of the four tours (-1 yesterday), far from the -23 that gave the victory to the Frenchman, a solid leader.

Otaegui delivered a card of 70 strokes, his worst in the tournament. Three birdies were not enough to compensate for his poor start, with bogeys on holes 1 and 6.

On the other hand, Jon Rahm shone, climbing positions in the table until finishing ninth. He finally putted on the greens and made eight birdies in a performance with only one blemish, the bogey on the 13th hole.

The German Marcel Siem was the best of the day with two eagles and seven birdies, insufficient to worry a Pavon who was unattainable for the rest and without ups and downs from Thursday to Sunday.
