Termination of contract: Olympic silver medalist Bircevic leaves the MBC

The Stefan Bircevic chapter at the Bundesliga basketball team Syntainics MBC is over again. The club from Weißenfels and the Serb agreed on Monday to terminate the contract early. The 33-year-old is currently suffering from a knee injury and will return to his homeland soon, according to MBC. The Bundesliga bottom club is already exploring the market to sign a replacement.

The MBC, still winless in four games, presented Bircevic as the last new addition at the end of August. The Rio Olympic silver medalist and 2014 World Cup runner-up played four times for the Wolves in the league and cup and averaged 9.0 points and 3.8 rebounds. Bircevic had to pass in the cup round of 16 a week ago and was not used on Sunday in the 86:94 win against Bamberg.
