Never before in our country have so many retirees earned extra money as self-employed people. Doing extra work after retirement – as a self-employed person but also as an employee or civil servant – does pay off, but please note: the rules are not the same for all retirees. One person can earn unlimited additional income, the other only about 7,400 euros per year. “If you earn too much, you will receive less pension the following year,” warns Ellen Van Grunderbeek of HR services group Acerta. The expert explains how much you can earn extra and which pitfalls you should definitely watch out for.
