Nagelsmann sorts out the secret star of the Amazon documentary

Julian Nagelsmann as the new national coach is not the only change at the DFB. There are also a lot of changes in the second row for the national team. Nagelsmann sorts out confidants of former national coach Hansi Flick.

The national team has started a new chapter. After flying to the USA, the new national coach Julian Nagelsmann led a training session for the first time in Boston on Tuesday. But a lot has changed not only in the front row with the new coach, but also behind it.

As assistant coaches at Nagelsmann’s side, there are also two fresh faces in Sandro Wagner and Benjamin Glück. Hansi Flick and his assistants Marcus Sorg and Danny Röhl are history at the DFB. But it also affects a few people from the second row – including the “secret star” of the Amazon documentary about the DFB at the World Cup in Qatar.

Analyst Dr. Dr. was missing from flight LH 0422 to Boston. Stephan Nopp (44), affectionately called “Noppi” by Flick in the Amazon documentary about the national team. Data analyst Pascal Bauer was also removed from the squad. According to information from “Sport Bild”, both will no longer be part of the national team until further notice.

Nopp became known to fans through the documentary because he had more speaking time in the interviews in the series than almost all other DFB stars. He humorously explained his analysis activities, the respective tactics and also talked about the mood in the team.

Nagelsmann relies on people he trusts

Now Nagelsmann has examined the team around the team, his confidants are now primarily the two assistant coaches: Nagelsmann’s long-time friend Benjamin Glück (37), who has been at Nagelsmann’s side in all of his coaching jobs as an assistant coach for analysis, as well as his former striker from Hoffenheim’s times, Sandro Wagner (35).

But some Flick people are still there: for example Mads Buttgereit, who Flick hired as a coach for set pieces at the beginning of his time as national coach. He had already had a lively conversation with Sandro Wagner on the flight to the USA.

Goalkeeping coach Andreas Kronenberg also continues under Nagelsmann. There were few changes in the rest of the team’s support staff in terms of doctors, supervisors, security staff, organization and the press.
