The contractual situation of the KTM riders finally became clearer on Friday with the announcement of the line-up of the GasGas-Tech3 satellite team. It will be made up of Augusto Fernandez, who is having a good rookie season, and Pedro Acosta. The current leader of the Moto2 Championship will therefore, as expected, move up the ranks, and it is Pol Espargaro who will pay the price.
The Spaniard, injured during a fall in Portugal, is only 23rd in the Championship while his teammate is 14th and notably has a 4th place at the French GP. Espargaro will still be with the team but as a test driver and wild card in certain races. “He will remain an important member of the MotoGP program on both sides of the pit wall,” specifies the Austrian manufacturer, who will keep Brad Binder and Jack Miller in his factory team.
