Moroccan Najwa Awane Dominates International ITF Wheelchair Tennis Tournaments

The Al Amal Sports Complex in Casablanca hosted two international ITF wheelchair tennis tournaments, with prize money of $3,000 each, which ended on Sunday, both for men and women with the participation of France, Spain, Brazil, Mali and Morocco, and at the helm is ITF supervisor Mohamed Ghassoub.

Among the ladies where the Moroccan Najwa Awane was above the rest by winning, hands down, both tournaments. During the first stage, which was played in the “Round-Robin” round, Najwa ranked first with three victories followed by her compatriots Samira Benichi, Ibtissam Battar and Fatima Maray.

As for the second stage, it was played by direct elimination where Najwa was once again flawless until the final where she defeated Samira Benichi with a score of 6/1, 7/6[5].

Among the men, the first stage saw the final victory of the Spaniard Daniel Caverzashi, by 6/4, 7/5, at the expense of the Frenchman Guilhem Laguet.

The latter who will pull himself together, afterwards, by winning the second stage after his victory, in the final, against the Moroccan Lhaj Boukartacha with the score of 6/0, 6/3.
