The matches are two of the clashes between teams that were left without a classic on the date of the interzonals, which on Sunday had ended with three 0-0 derbies in Santa Fe, La Plata and Córdoba.
El Guapo and El Verde encouraged a direct duel between two who need to add to climb in the annual table, but after a frenetic start, ideas died out on the Huracán field, where Barracas has been playing as the home team. In Mendoza, Instituto took the lead in the 28th minute through midfielder Jonás Acevedo but Godoy Cruz reacted in the 56th minute with Tadeo Allende, who has been one of Tomba’s best players this year. The 24-year-old from Córdoba has eight goals in 29 games in 2023.
Instituto adds 10 points in Zone A, placing sixth; while Godoy Cruz has 9 in B, being fifth. In the annual table, Gloria is with 42 while Tomba maintains its positions in Sudamericana 2024, with 50.
