Montpellier to Host European Individual Judo Championships 2023 with Olympic Qualification at Stake

In just over three weeks Montpellier will host i European Individual Judo Championships 2023, in program from 3 to 5 November. The continental event, in addition to awarding titles and medals, will offer a maximum of 700 points (the same score as a Grand Prix) for the Olympic qualification ranking for the Paris 2024 Games.

Great expectations for the Italian team, which will present itself in France with a delegation of 18 athletes (9 women and 9 men). Spotlight on the stars in the women’s sector Assunta Scutto (n.1 in the world in -48 kg), Odette Giuffrida (championship bronze in the -52 kg category) e Alice Bellandi (winner of the 2022 Masters in the -78 kg category), but they will also try to impress as outsiders Francesca Milani (48 kg), Veronica Toniolo (57), Flavia Favorini (63), eighteen year old Savita Russo (63), Martina Esposito (70) and Asya Tavano (+78).

In the men’s field there will be points of reference Manuel Lombardo (73 kg) and Christian Parlati (90), among the best on the planet in their respective categories, while the Italian team will be completed by Angelo Pantano (60), Andrea Carlino (60), Fabio Basile (66), Elios Manzi (66), Giovanni Esposito (73), Antonio Esposito (81) and Gennaro Pirelli (100).
