Mexico Makes History with Three Bronze Medals in Badminton at Pan American Games

The duo made up of Job Castillo Galindo and Luis Armando Montoya Navarro won a bronze medal in men’s badminton doubles, after losing 2 sets to 1 (10-21, 23-21 and 23-25), against the Canadian couple Xingyu Dong and Nyl Kiyoshi Yakura, at the XIX Pan American Games Santiago 2023.

The national Luis Ramón Garrido Esquivel, obtained third place in the individual semifinal, after being defeated 2 sets to 0 (21-17, 21-12) against Kevin Cordón; In women’s doubles, the duo made up of Miriam Rodríguez Pérez and Romina Mariel Fregoso Guevara, won the bronze medal after falling 2 sets to 0 (21-10, 21-7), with Catherine Choi and Josephine Wu from Canada.

With these three bronze medals, Mexico makes history as the best participation of the discipline in a Pan American Games, after surpassing the two third places in the Guadalajara 2011 edition, won by Victoria Montero in women’s singles and Lino Muñoz with Andrés López in men’s doubles

This Wednesday, October 25, is the closing of badminton at the Olympic Training Center, where the national team will no longer have participation.
