Max Scherzer is left off the roster for the division series

The Texas Rangers will be without three-time MLB Cy Young Award winner, Max Scherzer, throughout the Division Series against the Baltimore Orioles.

In fact, it didn’t matter that the future Hall of Famer threw 40 pitches during a practice session on Friday, since Arlington manager Bruce Bochy excluded him from the roster for the aforementioned battle.

The official website of the major leagues reported that Scherzer, who has not climbed the nose in an official match since September 12 due to a shoulder injury, experienced discomfort in that area while playing bullpen.

Paradoxically, the Rangers have overcome the losses of their two big aces in the starting rotation in 2023, since Jacob deGrom, signed for five years and $185 million last winter offseason, announced in June that he would not pitch again until mid-2024 following elbow surgery.

In the case of Scherzer, obtained via trade from the New York Mets at the end of July, he went 4-2 with a 3.20 ERA in eight appearances for Texas during the regular round.

In this way, the Orioles will try to take advantage of the absence of “Mad Max” in a best-of-five games phase and in which the winner will face the Houston Astros or Minnesota Twins in the American Championship Series.
