Marta García, to the European ‘Formula by Alpine’

Marta García, the brand new first champion of the F1 Academy in the framework of the US Grand Prix of Formula 1, will make the jump to the European Formula Regional Championship by Alpine, with a seat fully financed with Prema Racing, the same team with which she has made history this year. «F1 Academy has announced that the winner of its inaugural season, Marta García, will receive a fully funded seat with Prema Racing for the 2024 Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA). F1 Academy, Prema Racing, Tatuus and Pirelli will contribute financially to the cost of the seat,” Formula 1 announced on its website. The 23-year-old Dianense driver was crowned the first F1 Academy champion on Saturday, winning the opening race of the three held in Austin, her seventh victory of 2023.

Marta García will race in the ranks of the current champion of the Formula Regional by Alpine, Prema Racing, which has won in 2023 by only 12 points over the R-Ace GP. Its Italian driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli took the title with 300 points, 39 more than rookie Martinius Stenshorne. The other two Prema Racing drivers, the Brazilian Rafael Cámara and the Spanish Lorenzo Fluxà, finished in fifth and seventh position respectively. Launched in 2021, following the merger of Formula Regional Europe and Formula Renault Eurocup, FRECA is an established space for young drivers looking to develop before making the jump to FIA Formula 3, and in which they compete without sex distinction. «I am very excited to race in the FRECA next year, it is going to be a big step. “We know that we will have to work hard with the team to be successful.”
