Marselino Ferdinand most likely will only be a spectator at the moment Indonesian National team compete against Brunei Darussalam in the 2026 World Cup Qualification event.
The Indonesian national team will compete against Brunei twice. The first leg will be in Jakarta on October 12 and the second leg will be in Brunei on October 17.
For this match Shin Tae Yong called up 26 players, including Marselino Ferdinan. Unfortunately Marselino is currently not 100 percent fit.

The 19 year old youth is currently recovering from an injury. Marselino was diagnosed with a hamstring injury at the end of September, after the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup Qualification.
That’s why Marselino was not included in the list of KMSK Deinze players in the last two weeks of the Belgian League. Deinze also did not immediately release Marselino, unlike Ilhan Fandi’s call.
Ilham was called up to the Singapore national team during the international calendar. The day after the letter arrived, Deinze immediately announced that he would release Ilham during FIFA Matchday.
Regarding Marselino’s call, Deinze is considering it carefully. After careful discussion, Marselino finally announced that Deinze would be released to Indonesia, Friday (6/10).
“Marselino Ferdinan was called up to the Indonesian National Team for the first phase of the 2026 World Cup and 2027 Asian Cup Qualifications against Brunei Darussalam,” wrote Deinze on X’s social media.
“Marselino will continue his rehabilitation [pemulihan cedera] in Indonesia while supporting his teammates in the qualifying round. Have a safe journey.”
Marselino’s absence against Brunei is actually not that crucial. The reason is that the quality of the opponent is far below Indonesia. So Shin Tae Yong has many choices in midfield.
