Marc Polmans turns on a referee, is disqualified from Shanghai then apologizes

Marc Polmans apologized for his outburst. The 26-year-old Australian, who played on Tuesday for a first qualification of his career in the Masters 1000 in Shanghai, was disqualified after sending a ball into the head of the chair umpire, Ben Anderson. Polmans had just missed a match point against Stefano Napolitano when he made this gesture of spite which cost him the match (6-7 [3]6-6 [6-6]).

“The referee, Ben, accepted my apology for my behavior. He knows it wasn’t intentional and that I hit the ball out of frustration in the heat of the moment. We both move on. It was a high pressure situation and I should have reacted better,” the player wrote on his social networks.
