Luis Carrión, coach of Real Oviedo: “We were good, we needed to be more aggressive”

Oviedo’s coach, Luis Carrión, assessed yesterday in the press room at the Butarque stadium Oviedo’s draw against Leganés. Carrión was generally happy with the attitude of his team and the game plan, although he acknowledged that the team lacked depth. However, the blue coach, who coached his fourth game with Oviedo (two wins, a draw and a loss) highlighted the team’s good form in recent weeks.

Analysis of the match.

“They had some chances. In the second half the team was very good, but we needed to be a little more aggressive at the end. Bastón was far from the area in the build-up and it was difficult for us to get there. We played a serious, good game with chances.”

The necessary speed to reach further was lacking.

“Yes, there was a lack of depth. They were good, closing in and on the left it was difficult for us to finish the options. We had a clear shot from Borja Bastón after a cross from Seoane. In the second half they gave a pass further back, we had control and we arrived well on the outside…It was a serious game, there was one from Viti that Moyano almost reached.”

Balance of the last weeks.

“The balance is good. If we always did this…We are a team that knows what it wants, against a difficult rival in Leganés, which is on a direct rise.”

Lucas’s absence.

“We prepared the game thinking about taking the ball to the right to finish on the left. When we got to the other side it was difficult for us. The two centers with the clearest chances are with the left. It is always difficult.”

Paulino, no problems.

“Paulino is fine, he only left due to fatigue. He had just played a lot of minutes and had cramps.”

Return of Camarasa

“Camarasa has been participatory. Asking for the ball a lot, losing it little and I am very happy for him. It is great news for me to have him in the squad.”
