The RSEQ Côte-Nord regional badminton championship occupied the Polyvalente des Berges des Bergeronnes gymnasium at the end of the week for the secondary categories. Local rackets excelled on their courts, collecting more than half of the top honors.
Eight gold medals out of a possible fifteen and five banners out of a maximum of nine in total for the youngest, cadet and juvenile, this is the list of winners of the color bearers of the host club of the competition which brought together 312 student-athletes in all (primary and secondary). Primary school children were in action at Sacré-Cœur.
Three athletes left the competition with two gold medals around their necks, namely Jeanne Hovington and Sandrine Boucher from Poly des Berges as well as Alexis Joseph from the Jean-du-Nord/Manikoutai school in Sept-Îles.
The coaches who will accompany the student-athletes for the Provincial Championship will decide in the coming days to determine the north-coastal delegation for the meeting on April 22 and 23 in Sainte-Thérèse.
