Leylah Fernandez topples Katerina Siniakova in Hong Kong final

Leylah Fernandez had to fight a 2h38 fight to win her first title of the year in Hong Kong (WTA 250) on Sunday. The 21-year-old Canadian, 60th in the world, found the Czech Katerina Siniakova (85th) in the final, whom she had easily dominated in the second round of Roland-Garros in 2022 (6-2, 6-2).

But this time, Fernandez started off on the wrong foot with the loss of the first set. The 2021 US Open finalist then managed to reverse the course of the match after two sets of almost an hour each.

In the end, Fernandez won in three sets (3-6, 6-4, 6-4), and won her third title on the WTA circuit, after having triumphed twice in Monterrey (2021 and 2022). Siniakova, 27, victorious in Bad Hombourg (on grass) this season, has four titles to her name in singles.
