“Lekrings” wins the first victory in the Latvian-Estonian league
The Cēsis team “Lekrings” achieved its first success in the men’s floorball league of Latvia and Estonia, beating “Lielvārdi/Fat Pipe” 4:3 tonight. Olafs Zvīnis and Bruno Beķeris scored three points each for the winners.
This was the second game for both teams in the new tournament. Cēsis “Lekrings” recognized the superiority of Tallinn “Sparta team Automaailm” 4:6 in the first match at home, but “Lielvārde/Fat Pipe” conceded the superiority of “FBK Valmiera/Betsafe” 3:4 in overtime. The result of the match between Lielvārde and Cēsi teams was revealed in the 17th minute, when the visitors intercepted the ball in the center of the field, and then Olafs Zvīnis shot accurately from the right side – 1:0. The first period ended with that result. At the beginning of the second third, Oskars Tūtans was the most agile in front of the visitors’ goal, who restored the tied result – 1:1. already after three minutes, the Česi team realized their numerical majority – 2:1, a goal by Bruno Beķeras. The giants managed to restore a draw once again – 2:2, in the 36th minute Ralf Fritsson scored. Exactly one minute before the second break, the Cesians took the lead for the third time (3:2). Emil Dzalbs used the numerical advantage of his team. In the first seconds of the last period, Olaf Zvīnis made it 4:2. In the 47th minute, Lielvārde’s floorball player Kārlis Degins reduced the difference to the minimum (3:4), but the home team failed to fight back and save even a point. “Lekrings” of Cēsis could celebrate the first victory in this tournament – 4:3.
The best player award in both teams went to goalkeepers – goalkeeper Markus Plūdums, who saved 28 of 31 shots, and big man Lauris Kārkliņš, who neutralized 20 of 24 opponents’ shots. Olafs Zvīnis and Bruno Beķeris were the top scorers in the winners’ ranks – both with three points each. In Lielvārde’s team, no floorball player had more than one point. After this victory, Cēsu “Lekrings” climbed to 3rd place in the tournament table with three points, but “Lielvārdei/Fat Pipe” still only has one point and shared 4th place.
