Lebanese Holders Beirut and Dynamo Secure Wins in Arab Tournament

The current Lebanese holders from Beirut beat their Moroccan counterpart Majd Tanja 95-70; Meanwhile, Dynamo defeated Qatar’s Al Ahli 93-63.

World Cup player Sergio El Darwish led Beirut’s performance with 35 points, thanks to a 66.7 field goal effectiveness with 14 baskets in 21 attempts, in addition to contributing eight rebounds and three assists.

For his part, American reinforcement Zack Lofton recorded a double-double in scoring (35 points) and rebounds (10) to command Dynamo’s smile, supported by his long-range aim with seven triples.

The monarchs of the Lebanese league make up group four along with the representations of Al Ahly from Egypt, Al Ittihad Tripoli from Libya, Majd Tanja from Morocco and Dijla SC from Iraq.

The Beirut quintet, two-time runners-up in the Arab tournament, arrived at the tournament after winning the Doha International Tournament yesterday by beating the also Lebanese Sagesse 90-62.

Debutant at this level, Dynamo integrates the third key accompanied by Al Ahli of Qatar, Ittihad Alexandria of Egypt, Al Seeb of Oman and Al Ittihad of Algeria.

The Arab competition brings together 18 teams in Doha divided into four sections, including two from five teams, in a competition calendar scheduled until October 12.
