Latvian basketball player Artūrs Žagar underwent successful knee surgery in Istanbul, the Vilnius Wolves team announced on social networks.

It has already been reported that Žagar tore the internal lateral ligaments of his left knee a little more than a week ago. The Turkish club Istanbul Fenerbahce, which owns Žagar, stated that the Latvian will undergo rehabilitation after the operation in Turkey, under the supervision of the doctors of the Istanbul unit. Recovery from the injury will take at least five months.

After a successful start in the World Cup finals, where he was included in the second symbolic team of the tournament, the Latvian basketball player signed a three-year agreement with “Fenerbahce”, but this season he is on loan to the Lithuanian club “Wolves”.

Žagars played four games in the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL) for the Vilnius team, in which, spending an average of 22 minutes on the court, he scored 12 points, three rebounds and five assists, while in the ULEB Eurocup, he was on the court for 23 and a half minutes in one match, scoring ten points. and successfully passed four times.

Last season, the Latvian represented another Lithuanian team, ħedainai “Nevežis”, but before that he was in the system of the Spanish club Badalona “Joventut” since 2017. For part of the 2021/2022 season, he was the point guard in the Braunschweig “Lowen” team of the German basketball Bundesliga.
